If you ever lived in or stumbled across the thriving little city of Richfield before the late 90's, there's a pretty good chance you encountered the crown jewel of the Rooster Valley: The Ideal Dairy.
Hopefully you were lucky enough to try the cherry slush injected with a generous column of vanilla sherbert. Perhaps you tried the mesmerizing choco-vanilla swirl cone? Perhaps I bought it for you and put it on my parents' account, which I'm sure had to be somehow collateralized by the equity in their home. Looking back, maybe it was just a regular old dairy store. A regular old dairy with an amazingly awesome magical charge account that let me get anything for myself and my buddies without ever having to shell out a cent of allowance money. Now that's an ideal dairy!
Seeing "The Dairy" torn apart brick-by-brick is a downer, but this Reaper article lifts me back up. Happiest Reader comments on the 3-paragraph statement (one of which is about mortuary expansion): "What a grade 'A' story, best i've seen in months, maybe even years!!!! " Those of you not privy to the good-heartedness of Richfield people would be inclined to think that Happiest Reader has a beautifully honed sense of sarcasm. I know better. Happiest Reader is delighted and wants the Reaper staff to know it. Unfortunately Happiest Reader has nailed it, there hasn't been any better investigative reporting in this paper since the bunny-burning scandal of 1991.

Brother: we had it made in the shade, It's a good thing I didn't know any better or I would of never of left home. I don't know if you knew about the cheveron or Phillips 66 charge accounts but lets just say the Monte Carlo always had a full tank of gas and I would sneak in a twix bar or two on the David Okerlund account... I have to talk with you and Em in more detail about this, but I am pretty sure that I missed out on this whole account thang! (except for the gas-) And I woud also like to know about this allowance thing? HUMMM?!
But really- I had tears rolling down when I read this. I really want a slush with so scream RIGHT NOW!
