Each year, sometime after September, the people of our fair city stop being miserable and start being smug--especially towards our friends in Utah who are shoveling snow (and not magical Christmas snow either--the cold, icy, dirty snow that gets especially tiresome in early February).
We Bakersfiladelphians will be singing a different tune once the summertime heatwave rolls around, but until then, we'll hope you're enjoying the blizzards (or planning to come visit us).
This homepage is what greets me each morning when I fire up my computer at work. Lately I fixate on the GWD (Good Weather Differential) of places of interest where friends and family are huddled. For us it's a satisfying little victory any time our low temp is higher than your high temp. Rochester's not looking so good this weekend, Em and Zach.
Lately I've tried hard to ignore the company's stock ticker at the top.
My sister, Jen, seemed strangely offended by the fact that I neenered her about the Cinnamon Dolce syrup. Getting that kind of reacton from her makes me want to do it more often. Anyway, despite all of its faults, Jen, Bakersfield has got St. George beat: It's warmer in the winter and slightly cooler in the summer. Whoopee! (and Neener!).
The little photo of the lake is from Banff Nat'l Park. My Dad just won a trip there this summer thanks, in part, to him selling me a huge life insurance policy. As a general rule I think a person should be worth more to his/her spouse alive than dead. In this case I've made an exception for my Dad's good cause.

Some of us enjoy the cold weather, Mr. Smug. Especially after enduring 2 non-winters in Phoenix.
You just keep on telling yourself that...
I would like to point out that on the news tonight it said that Bakersfield had the worst air quality in the NATION! You may have great weather, but at least we can breath well here. (neener.)
